Appointments and Fees
Chelsea General Practice offers appointments of different lengths according to the nature and complexity of the consultation.
New patients are asked to attend an initial 45-minute appointment. This allows Dr Barshall to take a detailed medical history, review current medication and discuss existing and future health requirements. Baseline measurements such as blood pressure, height and weight may also be taken.
We are often able to offer same-day or next-day appointments for existing and new patients.

Video and telephone consultations are available where clinically appropriate and are charged according to the time required and any work arising from the consultation.
Telephone and email medical advice may incur a fee unless it relates directly to a recent consultation. This remains at the doctor’s discretion.
Specialist referrals are normally made following a consultation with Dr Barshall. A referral made without an appointment may incur a fee.
Patients who receive regular prescription medication are required to consult with their doctor at least once a year for a medication review. The practice cannot continue to prescribe regular medication without appropriate clinical review.
Please note that there are additional fees for laboratory tests, vaccinations, medications and dressings.
-
Payment is requested on the day of the appointment and can be made through the practice PA or by bank transfer.
Card details can be stored securely for patients who prefer the practice to process future payments.
Chelsea General Practice does not bill private medical insurers directly. The practice can provide invoices, receipts and referral information for patients to submit to their insurer for reimbursement.
Patients should confirm their individual level of cover with their insurer.

Appointments cancelled with fewer than 24 hours’ notice are normally charged at the full consultation fee. Where exceptional circumstances have made a late cancellation unavoidable, the fee may be reviewed on an individual basis if the patient is able to reschedule the appointment for within two weeks.
